Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known for playing detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received the Emmy Award. She has also starred in series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney has a father who was an executive in the United Auto Workers who was also the mother of her children. Delaney has four older brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. But in highschool the time came when she began modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. Her first role as an actor was as a teenager as a child in All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Since then, Delaney has been featured in many TV dramas and films. Her professional career has been more successful than her private life. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. The actress lost custody of her son in the year 2005.
